Deli was born on Valentine’s Day 2024, part of a litter of four. Inspired by their special birth date, the breeders named the puppies Romeo, Juliet, Casanova and Valentina.
I loved her breeder name, Valentina, but once she started toddling around, it was clear she was pure love incarnate. I decided to keep the theme and call her D’li Shel Ahavah —
Hebrew for “bucket of love.” And she became simply, Deli.
From the moment she came home, Deli became besties with Roscoe, my then 5 year old Canaan Dog. The two of them are inseparable — always chasing each other, playing “bitey face,” and racing around the backyard.
At just three months old, Deli began participating in conformation shows with both the AKC and UKC. At six months, she made her UKC debut and won Reserve Best in Show. She also earned a Group 1 placement in the UKC Sighthounds and Pariah group against stiff competition
(including 20 silken windhounds at their specialty)—
a wonderful surprise for her first big outing!
When she’s not in the show ring, Deli loves chasing rabbits in the backyard and running in Fast CAT events year-round. She also passed her herding instinct trials with flying colors including three rounds of applause from the crowd. True to her name, Deli fills every day with joy, affection, and endless kisses — she really is a “bucket of love.”
