Libi came to live with me when she was three months old. I had asked Myrna for a sound and typey Canaan bitch with whom to do performance events, so Libi was selected for me primarily based on her temperament.
Like most Canaan Dogs, Libi is quite reactive to her environment. She needs time to process new events before she can give me and the training her full attention.
Interestingly, Libi loves other dogs. Although she defends the property from strange humans, all dogs are always welcome to come and play. She does not care for most people besides me, and does not like them to touch her.
Libi is beautiful and graceful and fast. I love to watch her run and play. She is also quite smart and teaching her new things is always fun. She is everything I wanted and expected in a Canaan Dog, like my huskies in many ways but very different in other characteristics. I enjoy her tremendously. Photographer: Yvonne McGehee |
